Navutu Stars Resort Opens in Yasawas

The upscale Navutu Stars Resort has just opened on the west side of Yaqeta Island in Fiji's Yasawa Group. Navutu Stars is attempting to fill the niche between top end Turtle Island Resort on Nanuya Levu Island and backpacker-accessible properties like Oarsman's Bay Lodge on Nacula Island.

The architecture of the nine thatched bure is a mix of Mediterranean and Fijian. The units face three small bays, and as elsewhere in the Yasawas, the swimming and snorkeling is excellent. Non-motorized sporting activities are included in the basic rates, which start at F$600 single or double, F$780 triple. Continental breakfast is also included, but the a la carte lunch and dinner are F$90/100/150 vegetarian/light/gourmet per person extra. Add 12.5 percent value added tax to these prices.

Navutu Stars is a creation of an Italian couple, Maddalena and Manfredi, and the target clientele is romantic couples. Children under 16 are usually not accepted. Massage is offered, with the first massage free. From Nadi, you can get there on the Awesome Adventures catamaran at F$95 per person each way. A Turtle Airways seaplane transfer will be F$299 per person each way.
