Mercure Hotel Nadi, Fiji

In November, 2004, the Dominion International Hotel between Nadi Airport and Nadi Town was sold to New Zealand's CP Group, and two Fiji-based companies, Fijian Holdings Limited and the Tappoo Group. The management contract went to Accor Hotels, which has rebranded the property as the Mercure Hotel Nadi.

On page 125 of Moon Handbooks Fiji I recommended the Dominion International as "one of Nadi's nicest large hotels." The new owners have refurbished the three-story building erected in 1973, and the 84 rooms are currently offered on the Accor Hotels website at F$135 double (compared to the regular rack rate of F$234), about the same price I quote in my guide.

It's pretty likely that walk-in customers will also be able to get a room for F$135. If not, the Mercure's neighbours, Sandalwood Lodge, The West's Motor Inn, and the Capricorn International Hotel, have walk-in rates about half those of the Mercure. Wherever you stay, happy hour at the Mercure's bar is a wonderful place to begin a night on the town.
