Katafanga Island Resort

Katafanga Island ResortKatafanga Island in Fiji's remote Northern Lau Group was once owned by Harold Gatty, the Australian aviator who founded Fiji Airways (now Air Pacific) in 1951. A 1,034-meter runway extends halfway up the east side of the island. The construction of 20 upscale villas, a cliffside restaurant, spa, and golf course on Katafanga Island came to a grinding halt in 2004, although you wouldn't know it from the Katafanga Island Resort website. The unfinished resort is currently closed.

The owners are now looking for an investor to help complete the project or to buy the island outright. It's currently listed for sale as "Blue Lagoon Island Resort" on LuxuryRealEstate.com and you can have it for a cool US$25 million.
