Westin Denarau Resort, Fiji
On April 1, 2006, the Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa reopened next to Sheraton Denarau Villas on Denarau Island, six kilometers by road from downtown Nadi, Fiji. First built in 1975, this resort was originally called The Regent of Fiji, then the Sheraton Royal Denarau Resort. The aging premises have undergone a US$15 refurbishment to bring them up to Westin standards of luxury, and this Thursday the US$4 million spa will open. Some construction work will continue until October, but most of the 271 rooms are now available, starting at F$540 single or double plus 15.5 percent tax. The glorious swimming pool compensates for the mediocre beach.
