Survivor Cook Islands

As you may have heard, Aitutaki has been chosen for the filming of the 13th season of the U.S. reality television series Survivor. This was announced on May 14th during the final episode of Survivor Panama. Seven motu around Tapuaetai (One Foot Island) in the southeast corner of the atoll will be firmly off limits to anyone unconnected with the show until late August at least. Aitutaki's popular lagoon tours have been diverted to islets further north.

The production crew is being housed at the new Pacific Resort Aitutaki at Amuri, and there's a production camp at the Maina Sunset Motel south of Arutanga. Accommodations on Aitutaki are always tight, and it's to be assumed that a flock of curiousity seekers are already heading that way. Get firm room reservations before joining them as camping or sleeping on the beach are not allowed, unless you're a Survivor Cook Islands contestant, of course.
