Beachcomber Catamaran to Savusavu, Fiji

Beachcomber Cruises has announced that beginning next month they'll again be offering a fast ferry service directly from Lautoka to Savusavu. The 31-meter fast cat Drodrolagi II will zip 300 passengers from Viti Levu to Vanua Levu in perfect safety for an economy fare of $79 Fijian. That's a considerable savings over Air Fiji which charges $221 Fijian to fly from Nadi to Savusavu.

The Drodrolagi II will travel on Saturdays only, leaving Lautoka at 0630, arriving Savusavu at noon. They depart Savusavu again at 1300 and are back in Lautoka by 1830. In both directions there's a stop en route at Ellington Wharf opposite Nananu-i-Ra Island off northern Viti Levu - a convenient connection for those who want to combine a stay at one of Nananu-i-ra's charming small resorts with a trip to Fiji's "friendly north." From Savusavu there's an onward bus/ferry connection to Taveuni five times a week.
