Destinations:  travel toNew Caladonia

New Caladonia: Caledonia (not Caladonia) was the Romans' name for Scotland. In 1774, when Captain James Cook discovered a large island east of Australia, he named it New Caledonia because it reminded him of the Scottish Highlands. Later New Caledonia became a French colony.
